FAQs

How do moraines form?

Asked by Clare Glaciers incorporate rocks and sediments into their basal ice layers as they flow over the ground. At the end of the glacier, this sediment is deposited by the constantly moving ice. See Glacial Landforms for more information.

How do glaciers flow?

Asked by Sian Like any heap of plastic material, glaciers flow under gravity. If there is sufficient pressure and the ice is at a high enough temperature, basal melting facilitates basal slippage and subglacial sediment deformation.

Do polar bears eat penguins?

Asked by Stefan No. Polar bears live in the northern Hemisphere, and penguins live in the southern Hemisphere.
