Adventures with David Sugden
These pages give a window into the life of David Sugden during his first visit to Antarctica in 1965. David was a newly qualified glaciologist at the time. During this trip, he and Brian John were the first to find evidence that Antarctica went through glaciation long before Greenland (360 million years ago and 2.6 million years ago, respectively). This discovery is illuded to in the comic’s telegraph panel.
This is an excerpt from the comic ‘Stories of Ice and Science,’ which features the experiences and anecdotes of 5 renowned researchers. The comic celebrates the 50th anniversary of the International Glaciological Society British Branch and was presented at the annual meeting in Liverpool on Sept. 2, 2024.
