Cool site and I love the idea of pop quiz
I have seen illustrations that show the laurentide ice sheet ending in a 2-mile high vertical drop at its terminus. Is this realistic? How high can a vertical ice face exist on an ice sheet?
Hi James, thanks for your question.
I am not familiar with the illustration, however I would say this illustration is false as whilst glacier terminus’s can be high (e.g. 10s of meters), they are not that two miles high.
Thanks,
Laura
