Periglaciation

Periglacial’ describes a landscape that undergoes seasonal freezing and thawing and are generally located on the edges of past and present glaciated regions. These landscapes are home to impressive periglacial landforms, such as pingos, patterned ground and ice wedges. Further, they can also inform on past environments and be indicators for current climate conditions 1.
